18th DIGIMEDIA 2023 conference on media, advertising and legislation.
This year DIGIMEDIA will be divided into three separate thematic blocks. The first and most widely watched will focus on television broadcasting, with an emphasis on terrestrial broadcasting networks. The block will be subtitled “Inflation affects the media. Will Czechs keep free terrestrial TV?” and will analyse, for example, the poor funding of public service media and how this problem could be solved, the efforts of commercial TV stations to charge viewers for access to premium content, and will also focus on the CTU’s position on the future of free terrestrial TV reception in the Czech Republic after the change of the CTU Council Chairman. It should be added that the former head of the CTU, Hana Továrková, surprised us at DIGIMEDIA 2021 with her opinion that terrestrial TV broadcasting should completely end in 2030 and switch completely to the internet.
