CNN Prima News is launching a series on its website about hockey players in trouble. It is also launching coverage of the European Parliament elections on Wednesday 10 April, kicking off with a leaders' debate for the EP elections.

CNN Prima News, the news multiplatform, in cooperation with the Ivan Hlinka Foundation, has launched an eight-part series The Second Life of Champions on the CNNPrima.cz website from 9 April. It charts the fate of former hockey players who have found themselves in a difficult and complex life situation. As part of the Prima Svět project, the Prima Group is donating a financial gift of CZK 40,000 and a year's subscription to the prima+ video platform to the individual personalities.

Viewers and readers of CNN Prima News can also support them through a link to the Ivan Hlinka Foundation website and contribute to the selected hockey personalities through a transparent account. CNNPrima.cz will feature two stories of former players every week until the start of the World Championship.

Leaders' Superdebate to kick off European election coverage

CNN Prima News will also broadcast a superdebate of the leaders of the Czech candidates for the European Parliament on Wednesday 10 April. It will be broadcast at 21.00 live from the European Parliament in Brussels, where the audience will be in the studio along with the presenter Terezia Tománková. CNN Prima News is continuing its series of debates from the European Parliament in Brussels and Strasbourg under the title Czech Interests in Europe.
"The interest in our debates under the title Czech Interests in Europe shows that viewers are aware that in Brussels and Strasbourg decisions are made on matters that have a major impact on life in the Czech Republic. We have therefore long considered it our duty to convey to them the views and visions of the MEPs who represent or want to represent them in the EU. That is why we will be the first television station in our country to organise a debate of the leaders of Czech candidates directly in the European Parliament in Brussels, the place where they should represent Czech citizens if they succeed. And we are very pleased that even candidates who are still running for the post of MEPs will come in person directly to the studio in Brussels. They will be in the studio with their supporters, who will be sitting in the audience,"

says Tomáš Vojáček, CNN Prima News News and Journalism Editor-in-Chief.

The eight leaders of the candidates will be present. Klára Dostálová (non-establishment member of ANO), Alexandr Vondra (SPOLU), Danuše Nerudová (non-establishment member of STAN), Marcel Kolaja (Pirates), Petr Mach (SPD and Trikolora), Kateřina Konečná (Stačilo!), Lubomír Zaorálek (SocDem), Filip Turek (non-establishment member of Přísaha and Motorists for Himself).

According to a statement by CNN Prima News, the candidates were selected by averaging relevant pre-election polls for the European Parliament and Chamber of Deputies elections to the maximum number allowed by the capacity of the European Parliament studios in Brussels.

The debate itself will be preceded by a special behind-the-scenes broadcast from the European Parliament from 20.00. It will feature short interviews with the candidates. The debate will be followed by a special broadcast of the 360° programme from 23.00, dedicated to the most important points made in the debate.

The first superdebate on CNN Prima News marks the start of the European elections. More debates and special programmes are planned.
