The Radio Spectrum Policy Group (RSPG) has launched a consultation on the future use of the 470-694 MHz (UHF) frequency band, which is crucial for television broadcasting as well as cultural and media services.
The UHF band is important for the dissemination of digital television as well as wireless devices for productions such as microphones. The consultation seeks views on the effective use of this band after 2030. It also discusses the potential changes the band could bring for new technologies such as 5G and other services.
In addition to telecoms and media experts, government representatives and content providers are invited to participate in the consultation. The questionnaire is available on the RSPG website until 5 November 2024 and its results could significantly influence future rules for UHF spectrum management in the European Union. The telecoms regulator announced this on its website.
