ALMOST HALF OF CZECHS WATCH CONTENT THEY ARE ASHAMED OF ON THEIR MOBILE PHONES

Axocom research shows that up to 46% of the Czech population hides quilty pleasures.

There are series and shows that Czechs tell their friends and acquaintances about. But then there are also some that they are ashamed of and watch in secret, so that their closest friends don't know. Most often these are adult films, soap operas or reality shows. So-called guilty pleasures are hidden from their partner or friends by 46% of Czech men and women. According to a survey conducted by the media company Axocom, they use their mobile phones to do so.

"Viewers divide the TV world into a public one and a private one, which they prefer not to talk about. In the public one, they share what they like to watch with family and friends or colleagues at work. On the other hand, the private viewing includes things that they are ashamed of or do not want to be known about," commented Erika Luzsicza, director of Axocom, adding that mobile devices are most often used to watch programmes in secret.

In terms of individual guilty pleasures, so-called adult films are the most frequently mentioned (63% of all cases), followed by reality shows (27%) and the remaining tenth is accounted for by series that are not trending or are not rated as reputable by survey participants. Men in particular are more likely to secretly watch the aforementioned content on their mobile phones (58%).

On the other hand, in the living room, people most often watch comedies, action movies, family shows and the like together. These are the TV choice in up to 70% of cases. "The choice is mainly influenced by the feeling of time spent together and the emphasis on watching the best that the programme has to offer. What is seen as insufficiently representative in the eyes of the majority society, in those cases people resort to watching in secret," Luzsicza added.
