The commercial rivals Nova and Prima start the spring season, each with a new series and a new reality show.
In the week from 10 January, the leading commercial nation-wide TV stations start their spring programme schedules. The period between the end of the autumn season and the start of the spring season is shorter once again and due to the competition, commercial TV companies launch their premiere programmes earlier than usual.
Česká televize introduced most of its new evening shows for this year on channel one last week. Specifically, there were three new series - the crime series Stíny v mlze and Devadeástky and the family series Špunti na cestě. In the first week, the rating hit 1.7 million viewers (15+), or 1.9 million viewers watching the series Devadesátky. These were the best evening as well as all-day results.
On 10 January, Prima launched its new DIY reality show Dream Team - Mistři dílny in which two teams of six women and six men will compete in making various items for eight evenings. The reality show will run on Monday night, in the time when the series 1. mise was broadcast in the autumn. The series continues in Wednesday’s prime time. The slot from 9.40 pm on Mondays will be dedicated to premiere episodes of Jak se staví sen. The series Slunečná will be back on Tuesday night. It will be aired only once a week in the spring and the plot will come to an end in early March.
Slunečná will be replaced by ZOO, which will be presented for the first time on Thursday, 13 January from 8.20 pm. It will collide with the series Odznak Vysočina. TV Nova will show its first episode on the same day. The genre of TV series was represented by Pan Profesor in Nova in the autumn and will be replaced by the crime story set in the region of Vysočina.
Nova will bet on reality shows on Tuesday evenings in the spring again. Survivor Česko & Slovensko, a reality show where contestants are fighting for survival on an island in the Dominican Republic, was to be viewed on 11 January for the first time. However, its launch has been delayed. The show is scheduled until 10.30 pm and in addition to Tuesday, it will be broadcast in the same time slot on Friday night. There are no changes in TV Nova’s Monday and Wednesday night shows. On Saturday and Sunday, both leading commercial TV companies will rely on Czech films and comedies as well as foreign films.
