Media group Nova has announced that it has reached the half a million paying customers for its Voyo video library. These are customers in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Voyo is one of the Top 3 most popular VOD services on the market, the group said.
"Voyo is the largest local SVOD service in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. It is also one of the most sought-after and popular streaming services in both countries, on par with global players. I consider it a success that Voyo, which we relaunched in early 2021, already has half a million paying users. This figure does not include free trials,"
summarised TV Nova CEO Daniel Grunt. "It confirms that we are on the right track, and it is also a commitment for us not to back down from the ambitious goals we have set ourselves," added Grunt, who was behind the successful relaunch of Voya with his team as head of CME's digital division.
A key pillar of Voyo's offering is local content, featuring not only Czech films and series, but also original formats under the Voyo Original brand. The first ever was the longest-running Czech series in television history, Ordinace in the Rose Garden 2. The first ever Voyo Original miniseries was The Roubal Case by Tereza Kopáčová. It went on to receive two nominations for the Czech Lion.
This was followed by the series Guru, the comedy National Handball, Iveta, Jitřní záře, Gumy or the miniseries King of Šumava. There are also foreign films, series, reality shows and fairy tales for children.
"We rely on stories that the Czech viewer is familiar with, top filmmakers and a user-friendly environment. Voyo has now surpassed the big milestone of half a million subscribers. On average, they spend more than 12 hours a week on Voyo. We are preparing a large number of new features and product improvements during this year," said Lucie Oravčíková, Digital Director CZ/SK.
In addition to formats under the Voyo Original brand and a range of film and series titles from foreign and domestic production, subscribers can also enjoy live broadcasts of TV Nova channels on Voyo, including two sports channels - Nova Sport 1 and Nova Sport 2, and Markiza International. On Voyo, viewers can find over 700 Czech films, as well as over 2,000 titles and over 17,000 hours of entertainment.
In the near future, Voyo plans to release, for example, the action spy thriller Extractors, the comedy series Sex O'Clock, which will appear on Voyo on 10 March, or the first ever new release in the fantasy genre, which will be the series Vědma starring Dagmar Havlova and Jaroslav Dušek. Stories based on true events are also an essential part of Voyo. This year Voyo will offer the long-awaited second series of the miniseries Iveta directed by Michal Samir or the three-part Mathematics of Crime.
