A total of 47 brands will enter the Czech market in 2024, according to a survey by Cushman & Wakefield, which has been tracking new entries for a long time. This is the highest number of brands to enter the Czech market, with 40 brands in 2023.
The largest number of brands is represented by the F&B segment (Food & Beverages). The Lviv Croissants and The Box Donut brands opened their flagship stores in the Palladium shopping centre in Prague, the Amerikanos fast food brand opened in the Máj shopping centre, and the SKA Georgian fresh bar opened in the Quadrio shopping centre. On Prague's premium shopping avenues, for example, Georgian fine dining Dergi in Revoluční and Ukrainian fine dining Nai in Kobrova were introduced, bubble tea Makamaka in Jungmannova, Matcha Crew in Rumunská, bar Nalyvky zi Lvova in Trojanova, olive oil shop from France Oliviers& Co in Dlouhá, or Le Petit Beefbar of the famous steakhouse chain Beefbar in Wenceslas Square.
"While previously the majority of brands newly entering the Czech market came from Western countries, we now see a clear trend where new brands are largely from the East, especially from Ukraine, Poland, Slovakia or Turkey. Brands that are very strong in their home markets often choose the Czech Republic as one of the first countries to expand into Western Europe. The Czech Republic has a unique position on the European market, where Western brands choose it as a gateway for expansion to the East and brands from the East for expansion to the West," says Jan Kotrbáček from Cushman & Wakefield.
Traditionally, the home and furniture segments have traditionally occupied a large part of the new brands on the market. The market has seen the entry of SMEG, a designer appliance brand from Italy, Eyemazy decorations, Kave Home or Alexandra Spanish furniture, Lavish vintage furniture from Slovakia, Rolf Benz luxury furniture from Germany and Vossen home furnishings from Austria.
The fashion segment in the Czech Republic is already considerably saturated, but still retains its attractiveness. This year, the Czech market was entered by the premium brand Bikkembergs with a store in Slovanský dom, the outlet store 19V69 Italia in Fashion Arena Prague Outlet and the outlet retailer of Spanish brands ChicDeal in Olomouc City, sports fashion S'portofino with a store in Westfield Chodov, sports multi-brand JD Sports in Forum Liberec and clothing brand Extreme Hobby in Ostrava. Fashion was complemented by new accessory brands, such as the Slovak optics Eyerim or jewellery brand Zen Diamond, or the Tudor watch shop on Staroměstské náměstí in Prague.
health and beauty remain interesting and active segments. Among the most important arrivals are Parfums Christian Dior in the Westfield Chodov shopping centre, the American perfumery Le Labo in Vězeňská Street or Balmain Hair Couture in Dlouhá. Italian cosmetics Dr. Taffi has also entered the Czech market, opening a store in the Westfield Chodov shopping centre, the Slovak clinic IEM Spa in Masaryčka, Sister's Aroma in Westfield Chodov and Spa Ceylon on Vinohradská Street.
Two new brands known from abroad contributed to the opening of the W Prague hotel on Wenceslas Square, formerly known as Grandhotel Evropa. Here, the aforementioned fine dining Le Petit Beefbar, originally from Monaco, also known from luxury destinations such as Saint-Tropez, Nice, Porto Cervo, Mykonos and Santorini, opened. The W Prague hotel also presented a branch of their renowned wellness network Away Spa, offering beauty treatments, massages and member wellness.
"In 2025, several really important brands that the Czech customer knows very well from abroad are planning to enter the Czech market. In the second half of this year, an expanded Centrum Černý Most is planned to open, bringing new brands and new concepts to the Czech market. In addition to these brands, with which we are in advanced negotiations, brands such as Bath & Body Works, Wendy's Woolworth and Müller have already publicly announced their entry into the Czech market," reveals Jan Kotrbáček.
