Athletics, tennis and fencing were among the most watched sports at the Summer Olympics in Paris. This was reported by the chief commentator of CT Sport Robert Záruba.

This year's broadcasts of the Olympics together reached 4.6 million viewers who watched them for at least three minutes. "On top of that, we recorded 10.2 million starts of online broadcasts on CT's digital platforms," Czech Television said.

"Sport as a guy's programme? Wrong! The Olympics showed a high share of women in the audience: 48.6%. For comparison: the World Cup hockey 39%, the Euro 26.5%," added Robert Záruba on the social network X.

Audience interest in the broadcasts from Paris significantly surpassed the broadcasts from Beijing in 2022, Tokyo in 2021 and Pyeongchang in 2018 (for the Olympics held in Asia, however, the large time lag for live broadcasts must be taken into account).

According to ATO/Nielsen data, the Opening Ceremony was the most watched programme of the evening, with one million viewers on 26 July. It was also the most-watched opening ceremony since the Sochi 2014 Olympics, or in the case of the Summer Olympics, since Athens 2004.

Among the most watched broadcasts was the mixed doubles tennis final, where Tomas Machac and Katerina Siniakova won gold. According to Czech Television, 886,000 viewers watched it, with an audience share of 33.27%. Even 1.28 million viewers watched at least three minutes of the match.

At the time of the Olympics, CT Sport was the station with the highest share of all-day viewership across the entire TV market (18.6% of viewers over 15 years old). In prime time, the public service sports channel was second only to Nova in terms of viewership.

The Olympic Games are among the top three most important events on CT Sport this year. The biggest reach was the Ice Hockey World Cup in May (6.8 million viewers), while the Euro football event reached a total of 4.1 million people.
