JAN MAXA TO LEAD PRIMA+, PRIMA GROUP CHANGES MANAGEMENT STRUCTURE

From 1 May, Jan Maxa, who has a 12-year career at Czech Television, will take over the management of the prima+ platform. Petr Král moves to head the new Distribution and OTT product segment.

The video segment prima+ will be led from 1 May by Jan Maxa as director for the VOD segment. He was most recently at Czech Television, where he was responsible for iVysílání, among other services. The current VOD director Petr Král will be responsible for the distribution strategy and development of OTT services at Prima. His main task will be the development of Prima Group's product proposition in the IPTV market. Prima confirmed the management changes to MediaGuru.cz on Monday after noon.

"I believe that Petr will help us define a competitive proposition for the Prima Group in the challenging and rapidly evolving environment of Internet TV operators," said CEO Marek Singer. "Honza Maxa brings years of experience in content creation and digital media to Prima. His role will be to continue to expand the platform's offerings, particularly in the area of original programming, which is extremely popular with viewers and brings us new subscribers," he added.

"In just two years, prima+ has become a major player in the streaming platform space. My goal is to further strengthen its position and develop its offer with quality and attractive content for a wide range of viewers. I want to invest in new formats and genres, but also to bring innovation through projects such as The Traitors," said Jan Maxa, the new Director for the VOD segment of the Prima Group, on his arrival.

Jan Maxa served in the management of Czech Television from 2012 to 2024, where he held the position of director of programme development and programme formats, from 2020 he headed new media and from 2023 the digital services division. In 2011-2013, he introduced a producer management system at ČT. He managed teams of creative producers and dramaturgs, produced international co-productions such as Jan Hus and Marie Terezie, and from 2020 managed the new media area with an emphasis on technological and content modernisation. Previously, he worked at Nova television and CME group, where he implemented the production system in several countries, and worked as a sales director at Avion Postproduction and executive director of the Czech branch of Hachette Filipacchi publishing house. He left Czech Television last April.

Petr Král has been in the online world for almost three decades. For more than eight years, he was director of product development at Seznam.cz. For almost three years he led the digital activities of TV Nova and was behind the relaunch of the Voyo platform. In the media group Czech News Center he held the role of director of paid content, where he was responsible for the strategy and consolidation of premium content. He has been at Prima since September last year. He is now moving to the position of Head of the Operators and OTT segment.

New management structure


Prima Group is also introducing a new management structure based on five product segments. The segment heads report to the Board of Directors. According to Prima, the aim of this strategic change is to speed up decision-making processes and respond more effectively to changes in the media market.

"This change is a key step to strengthen our #1 position in the market and ensure sustainable growth in the future. It will enable us to speed up decision-making processes and better focus on the development of our five product segments," explained Marek Singer, adding that Prima will now be more responsive to changing viewer and listener preferences.

New division into five product segments


Television: Includes all of the Prima Group's TV channels on the Czech and Slovak markets as well as those represented by Media Club. It is led by Alex Ruzek, programme director of Prima TV. Ladislav Dianiška, commercial director of the Media Club's television division, is responsible for sales.

Streaming service prima+: Jan Maxa, the new director for the VOD segment of the Prima Group, will take over the management of this segment from 1. May. The technological development of the platform and business is in charge of Hung Nguyen, commercial director of Prima Group's online development.

Radio: This team is led and the business is the responsibility of Martin Kasparek, Commercial Director of Media Club's radio division.

Digital Media: Combines online activities, including the news portal and TV station CNN Prima News and lifestyle websites of the Prima Group and portals represented by Media Club. This segment is in the hands of Martin Švehlak, Prima Group's director of news and journalism, and Hung Nguyen, Prima Group's commercial director of online development.

Distribution & OTT: This segment focuses on the development of Prima Group's IPTV and OTT products. Petr Král moves to the head of this segment.
