Former Czech Television presenter will appear on Nova TV for the first time on 16 January.
Jan Smetana, the former sports presenter of Czech Television, will become the new face of TV Nova's sports coverage. From 16 January, he will start presenting Sport news and commentating on basketball matches.
"He's a seasoned presenter who is well liked by TV viewers. We will certainly appreciate his commentator's knowledge and experience. Few people here have commented from the floor as much as Honza," said Dusan Mendel, head of sports at TV Nova. "Basketball is one of the traditional sports on Nova Sport, we have been involved in it for a long time, especially thanks to the NBA broadcasting licence," he added.
"I come with absolute respect for what they have built here in terms of sports and entertainment, and at the same time with humility and respect. I have a tremendous appetite and motivation for my new job," Jan Smetana said.
Before joining TV Nova, Jan Smetana worked at Sports Editor of Czech Television, where he was a reporter, editor, dramaturge, commentator and presenter. For thirteen years, he was the host of Branky Body Vteřiny. He is the author of a number of programmes. He also has experience in radio, and has appeared in several films and commercials.
