NOVA CINEMA AND NOVA ACTION WILL CONTINUE TO BROADCAST FREE OF CHARGE
11. 7. 202311. 7. 2023In the case of Nova, this is an extension of the existing authorisations. Nova Cinema's terrestrial broadcasting licence expires on 5 September this year, while Nova Action's expires a day earlier. The media regulator, the Radio and Television Broadcasting Council (RRTV), received the application for the extension of terrestrial licences on 4 July. This is an important signal to the professional public and viewers that the media group Nova is counting on free-to-air broadcasting as an important part of its distribution mix in the years to come.
Nova uses the 24 DVB-T2 multiplex for the distribution of most of its programmes and is an absolutely key customer. In addition to its flagship channel, it also distributes Nova Action, Nova Gold, Nova Fun and Nova Lady. On the other hand, it has entrusted the distribution of Nova Cinema to Czech Radio Communications. Nova itself is therefore available in two multiplexes of competing operators. Nova Cinema was Nova's first ever free-to-air thematic channel, Action started years ago under the name Fanda.
