OČKO LAUNCHES INSTAGRAM ON TV, FURTHER CONNECTS TV AND NETWORKS
9. 4. 20249. 4. 2024Óčko is integrating content from the social network Instagram into its broadcasts. Since the beginning of April, Instagram posts have thus become part of the TV programme throughout the music group's daytime broadcasts.
The development was created "in house" and took six months. "The Instagram on TV platform, or IGvTV, is built on a completely new technology that we developed ourselves and which takes Óčko's broadcasts to a new level. It allows us to work with video editing in multiple layers in real time, in which we monitor Instagram posts and then play them on air. This is an extraordinary step not only in the Czech Republic, but also on a global level," said Petr Mareček, technical manager of Óčko.
The author of the graphic design is Dominik Laskaj, head of Óčko selfpromotion. The selection of Instagram posts takes place under editorial supervision, i.e. without online ads and automatic algorithms. News is selected not only from the music scene, but also from the world of film, sports, entertainment, education and lifestyle. "From thousands of public profiles, we have carefully selected the most interesting ones and are constantly updating our selection. In addition to posts from our own profiles, we follow popular artists, music labels, festivals, as well as profiles like NASA, UFC and Marvel. We also engage the audience through competitions. Interested people will get a chance to appear with their personal profile on TV for a certain period of time," says Michal Janíček, head of social media at Óček.
"It is an editorial news service that will complement our daily playlists. While with news TV it is a text-based infolist, we display a stream of authentic posts including photos and videos in the way it is common today to consume entertainment and news while scrolling on social networks - and while listening to popular hits. In addition, IGvTV does not cover the broadcast, but organically complements it, so this infotainment will run simultaneously with video clips, shows and even through commercial breaks without interfering with them," explains Alexandr Guha, Programme Director of Óček, explaining the new look of the broadcast.
Óčko is thus building on its earlier innovations in linking television and online, such as the #vidimsenaock platform, which mirrors viewers' Facebook comments into the broadcast and uses its social media channels to reach the majority of the population. It currently generates around 85 million organic impressions per month on social media.
