The music stations Óčko Star and Óčko Expres have applied to the Council for Radio and Television Broadcasting for an extension of their terrestrial broadcasting licences. The regulator grants them for a standard period of 12 years.
The terrestrial licence of Óčko Star expires on 17 April this year, while Óčko Expres has a licence valid until 6 August. Both stations are part of the Óčko group, which focuses on music content for different target groups. The licence extensions are crucial to maintaining their presence in the terrestrial broadcasting market, which remains popular with viewers across the Czech Republic.
In addition to the terrestrial licences, both stations also have internet broadcasting licences, which are secured until 2030. Óčko Star also uses satellite distribution, which extends its reach to other platforms. The application for the extension of the licences is a standard procedure and is expected to be approved by the regulator. Óčko Star is part of the nationwide network of Czech Radiocommunications, while Óčko Expres is distributed by transmitters with regional coverage.
