TN Live will be expanded on the TN.cz website, TV Nova has received approval from the Broadcasting Council to increase the number of broadcasting hours.
News and lifestyle online channel TN Live from TV Nova will expand its broadcasts. It received approval from the Radio and Television Broadcasting Council (RRTV) last week to increase its broadcasting hours from the original 3 to 15 hours to 3 to 24 hours a day. The Oneplay service now also offers the ability to watch TN Live shows backwards and search for them using the electronic programme guide (EPG).
As such, TN Live acts as a news channel within IPTV broadcasting. However, Nova still has no plans to build a full-fledged TV news channel, Kamil Houska, director of news and journalism at TV Nova, told MediaGuru.cz. "We have asked for the possibility to extend TN Live to 24 hours a day. It is still the case that this is a web-based news channel, we are not building another full-fledged news channel. We're focusing on interesting interviews, podcast content and news coverage, and we're developing new shows. We will inform about other possible news in due course," he said.
As part of HbbTV, Nova has in the past adopted a strategy of allowing multiple streams, labelled as TN Live, TN Live 2, TN Live 3 etc. depending on whether multiple parallel broadcasts are available.
A licence to operate the lifestyle and news programme TN Live on the internet was obtained by TV Nova from the RRTV in September 2023. TN Live was launched on TN.cz two years earlier. But from the beginning, it stated that it did not want to develop a news internet TV or a news TV channel.
