THE SECOND WAVE OF AUTUMN NEWS IS COMING

23. 9. 202423. 9. 2024
The tactical game Zrádci has arrived on our TV screens. Kamarádi, Taneční, Hrdina, Záhadné případy and StarDance will also be fighting for viewers.

On Sunday 22 September, Prima Television launched the first episode of the licensed tactical game Zrádci. Originally a Dutch format, it has an enthusiastic fan base abroad. Prima has been heavily promoting the news, and waited until Czech Television aired all three premiere episodes of its highly successful miniseries Docent to deploy it.

The show was directed by Markus Krug, among others the co-author of successful internet projects awarded with the Crystal Ball. With Janek Rubes, for example, he filmed the series Prague vs. Money, and with Kazma he created his One Man Show.
In the tactical game Zrádci, a group of contestants perform tasks every day and have the vision of a tempting reward ahead of them. However, it has traitors among them, who each night imaginatively kill one competitor so that the prize eventually goes to them. If the honest contestants want to win the prize in the final round, they must detect and eliminate all the traitors in time.

"The game does not monitor the privacy of the participants. It is not about the love relationships they have with each other or their personal stories. All the time you are watching a live detective game with real people, whose plots are created right in front of you. As a viewer, you know everything about who the traitors are, who the Faithful are, and you are entertained by how they lie to each other," said host Vojtěch Kotek. In keeping with the rules of the format, he is styled into the character of the mysterious lord of the castle.

The backdrop for the Czech version of the tactical game Zrádci is Křivoklát Castle, where filming took place this April. One normal shooting day lasted seventeen hours, while more demanding ones lasted twenty hours. The group of twenty-four contestants includes, for example, presenters Luděk Staněk and Jan Tuna, as well as models and YouTubers such as Slovak Gogo (Daniel Štrauch). The tactical game Zrádci is also broadcast in Slovakia, where viewers of TV Joj can watch it.

The first episode of the tactical game Zrádci competed for viewers' attention with a repeat of the popular Police Modrava on Nova. Public broadcaster CT1 offered an extraordinary broadcast of a benefit concert to help people affected by the floods. The start of the reruns of the six-part crime series The Nineties was postponed by a week.

Zrádci has twelve approximately one-hour episodes, so we will know the winner at the beginning of December. Prima is putting the new episodes ahead of time on its streaming service Prima+. It also wants to encourage interest in the tactical game Zrádci and other shows through its new Prima Zone mobile app. The app will gradually add information about all the contestants, behind-the-scenes videos, bonuses, quizzes or polls.

The Zoo series will be replaced by Kamarádi

Another big change awaits Prima TV in its successful slot on Tuesday and Thursday nights. The last episode of the romantic series Zoo will air in mid-October. It will try to keep the favour of its female viewers with a novelty from the village environment. From Tuesday 22 October, it will air the series Kamarádi on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Make no mistake, this is not the Czech children's TV series from 1969. The plot of this story revolves around three friends who return to their home village.

The series was subtitled Friendship is sometimes more than love, starring Anastasia Chocholatá, David Gránský and Jan Komínek. Television in general suggests that the plot will be "an emotional ride full of twists and turns and mystery in ordinary interpersonal relationships". According to the tabloids, one plot line will be a battle with a wealthy family that wants to buy up all the land and take over the village. This will pit the old villagers against each other. The three friends will then make up.

Another segment of the typical Prima audience will be targeted by the crime series Hrdina from the creators of the successful crime drama Cop. The title is based on the name of the main character, detective Adam Hrdina played by Jan Nedbal. The series will also feature Kristýna Boková as prosecutor Lucie and Ondřej Malý as Major Říha. Sixteen episodes have been filmed, and besides the detective plots, there will be hyperbole and sarcastic humour.

The characters in the series create a fairly usual contrast: the arrogant detective is a loose cannon with a casual work demeanour and annoys not only the superior major but also the empathetic prosecutor, who eventually finds sympathy for him. At the same time, the detective wants to solve his mysterious past.

Prima has not yet officially commented on when the Hrdina will be put on the air, but it is expected to be later this autumn. A mid-October premiere is being offered, when the second series of Wednesday's Two for the Kill and Saturday's Ghost, which are also representatives of the detective genre, will conclude. Monday's rerun of The Little Dissectionist from the Big City will also reach its finale, but with Monday night detective shows running simultaneously on Nova and CT1, another crime series would not offer a sufficient alternative for viewers.

Dancing on Nova and Kavčí hory

On Friday 4 October, Nova Television will broadcast the first episode of the series Taneční, which combines humour, family drama and romance. Eight episodes were produced under the direction of Jiří Vejdělek. "The world is full of stories and instructions on how to find love. But how to keep it, no one can tell you much. Screenwriter Ivana Hokrová has done her job," said creative producer Matěj Podzimek.

The spouses, played by Jitka Ježková and Sasha Rashilov, were once united by their passion for dancing, but years of living together and raising two children have meant that "today one dances the samba and the other the waltz". They start organizing dances for high school students and have to figure out who leads on the dance floor and who leads in life.

Nova promises that the result is a positive series for troubled times. "Full of elegance, dance numbers and foreign and Czech musical hits from years recent and long gone. A series about the most ordinary yet most important things, told with a smile and hope for a good ending," said Matěj Podzimek.

The Taneční series is a subtle ride on the wave of popularity of the StarDance competition broadcast by Czech Television. The thirteenth edition will begin on CT1 on Saturday, October 12 and will conclude on December 14. Tereza Kostková and Marek Eben will remain the presenting duo, while the three-member jury will consist of Tatiana Drexler, Richard Genzer and Jan Tomanek.

Actor Filip Blažek, actress Marta Dancingerová, writer Patrik Hartl, actor Oskar Hes, Paralympian Jiří Ježek, actress Jana Paulová, world champion in martial arts Martina Ptáčková, singer Ondřej Ruml, cook Chili Ta and singer Lucie Vondráčková will compete for the title of king and queen of the dance floor.

Duchařina with Donutil

The second not-yet-set Nova TV news for the autumn schedule is the eight-part series Záhadné případy. The commercial station is counting on it for Sunday nights, where it is now finishing reruns of the fourth series of Police Modrava. So it's likely that Mysterious Cases will premiere on Sunday, October 27, with the last episode falling on Sunday, December 15.

In Mysterious Cases, actor Miroslav Donutil returns to the series characters after a long time. He plays a healer, a herbalist and a retired psychotronic who is looked upon as a fool by others. His daughter, who doesn't believe in things between heaven and earth and makes fun of her father, helps him with his herbalist business. The third key character, on the other hand, is a ghost enthusiast equipped with measuring devices to monitor paranormal phenomena.

The series was produced by Bionaut. The creative team has already collaborated on the series The Lady and the King or the miniseries Morning Glow, which can be viewed on Voyo online.
