TV CHRISTMAS SCHEDULES TAKE OFF, DOMINATED BY FAIRY TALES AND MOVIES
16. 12. 202416. 12. 2024In the week of 16 December, domestic TV stations are switching to Christmas programming. On some days, regular programmes are still running, but the majority of the programming will be holiday films, fairy tales and comedies. These types of programmes predominate over the Christmas and New Year holidays.
The premiere Christmas Eve fairy tale of Czech Television this year is the fairy tale Tri princezny. On 25th December, it will again present a dually broadcast Czechoslovak co-production fairy tale, Carovne jablko. There is also a fairy tale for the deaf Carodejnicka pohadka.
The Christmas programme of TV Prima will include films such as Pretty Woman, Sam doma and the fairy tale Princezna na hrasku. TV Nova on Christmas Eve will present the fairy tales Byl jednou jeden kral, Tri bratri or the film comedy Laska nebeska.
The classic Christmas fairy tale Tri orisky pro Popelku will be offered by Television Seznam this year. During the Christmas holidays it will be offered at different times every day from 24 to 26 December. In addition, it will include other Czech fairy tales and films.
Czech Television's second channel will broadcast Christmas concerts by Helena Vondráčková, Hana Zagorová and Lucie Bílá as well as the film Fantomas on the main days of the Christmas holidays.
Barrandov Television will present a Christmas concert by André Rieu from Sydney as well as a classic from Schönbrunn in the evening holiday broadcast.
Czech films and fairy tales will also appear on the Joj group's channels over the holidays - CS Film and Joj Cinema. On Christmas Eve, the former will show Darbujan a Pandrhola or Byl jednou jeden kral, a day later Cesta do hlubin studakovy duse or the 1969 Czechoslovak crime film Po stopach krve. On Joj Family will be Krakonos a lyznici on Christmas Eve, a day later the comedy Slameny klobouk, then the comedy Chobotnice z druheho patra and on 26th December the film Vesele Vanoce preji chobotnice (it will also appear on CS Film).
