The forthcoming redesign was announced by TV Nova's CEO Daniel Grunt in an interview on the company's YouTube channel. "We are working on the redesign of the main Nova and Nova Cinema. In the first half of the year, we want to present to the viewers and the market the new look of the Nova logo, the new colour scheme and the TV design as such. We will prepare and present the same with Nova Cinema," he said.
The last major change was in 2017, when Nova also renamed some of its smaller thematic stations (for example, Fanda became Nova Action).
Among the strongest elements of traditional TV broadcasting, Daniel Grunt ranked news, live broadcasts of various events or sports. "News has a strong position here and will continue to have it in the future. Not only here at Nova, but generally in all large and important TV groups," he continued.
"If I take our Televizní noviny and add up the competing two main news programmes, even combined they are smaller than our Televizní noviny," says the director of Nova. "Last year we started a trend of giving more journalism back to Nova. We came up with the show On Your Side, started a Sunday political discussion show For Five Minutes at Twelve after a long time, we're beefing up Squares and found a new slot for Weekend. News and journalism has its place with us and will rather strengthen," he added.
"I would like to strengthen even more our own production, local products. I think it's something that people expect from us and what differentiates us from foreign platforms or pay channels. I've already hinted that we want to strengthen news and journalism more. We're investing quite a lot in sports, and that will show. And what else could there be more of? I think we could do with more entertainment,"
the director of Nova suggested.
