Watching TV at Christmas remains a popular pastime for all ages. And although viewing preferences have evolved over time, festive programming continues to draw millions of viewers to the TV screen. So this year, commercial television has again prepared an attractive Christmas programme that will appeal to everyone - there will be no shortage of specials of popular shows, or much-loved fairy tales, cartoons or romantic blockbusters.

Nova Television celebrates its thirtieth Christmas

In December, the knowledge show Na Lovu (On the Hunt) will bring two specials with star guests and charity. The longest-running series in Czech television history - Ulice (Street)- will present its traditional Christmas Eve episode, which will feature a series of touching encounters. For the first time ever, the Specialisté (Specialists) will present a ten-minute Christmas special and give fans of TV crime dramas Murder Under the Tree. The last day of the year will belong to Pavel Zedníček and his comedy show Všechno je možné! (Everything is Possible!) and on the New Year's Eve edition of the most watched news show, viewers will be treated to a spectacular surprise.

There will also be a selection of traditional Czech fairy tales, foreign and nowadays cult titles that we associate with the most beautiful holidays of the year: look forward to original Czech fairy tales Byl jednou jeden král, Bajajaja, Nebojsa, Obušku z pytle ven, as well as contemporary ones such as The Golden Cave and The Greatest Gift. Fans of Zdeněk Troška's fairy tales can look forward to the classic titles - O princezně Jasněnce a létajícím ševci, Čertova nevěsta atd.

During the Christmas holidays, animated film lovers will also find something to enjoy on Nova. Three films depicting the stories of Shrek, the unforgettable Smurfs, the popular Ice Age, the real animated treat How to Train Your Dragon, and Scoob! Comedies and romantic stories are also inherent to Christmas. It's hard to imagine the holidays without the unbeatable Love Actually.

Alongside this, there will also be a host of Christmas classics, fairy tales, cult films and new releases on Voyo.

The programme will also include three big specials: the 2025 News Calendar, A Year in the Czech Republic and A Year in the World, which will summarise the key moments of the past year and help viewers get a sense of what's in store for them in 2025.
