WHAT STREAMING SERVICES RULE THE CZECH REPUBLIC? AT THE END OF 2024, NETFLIX CLEARLY LED

6. 2. 20256. 2. 2025
Software service JustWatch has released a report on the shares of streaming services in the last quarter of 2024, based on the approach of its Czech users, i.e. how they click on JustWatch offers and how they mark titles as "viewed."

The market shares of SVoD (Subscription-based VoD, i.e. subscription-based video services) in Q4 2024 show Netflix as the sovereign number one having an unprecedented lead over Prime Video, which would have to join with third-placed Max to at least match Netflix! The number one domestic VoD operator, Voyo remains in 5th place with eight per cent, one per cent ahead of Apple TV+ and four ahead of SkyShowtime. It should be said, however, that video services as such are considered and Apple TV+ is now present in France's Canal+, which distorts its share a little.

And what does the market share trend look like through 2024 according to JustWatch? Growth is led by Walt Disney's streaming platform, Disney Plus, which has gained 4%. Apple TV+, Voyo (more not just on the number of paying customers in a separate article) and Amazon Prime Video (all roughly two per cent each) also saw some growth. Overall, Netflix lost slightly (3%), followed by video services Max and O2 TV (one per cent each).

In the Czech Republic, JustWatch has, according to its latest statement to digirevue.cz (beginning 2024), 200,000 to 250,000 monthly users, but in this press release it has already stated that it is basing its data on about 350,000.

Q2 2024 results according to JustWatch can be found here.
